Researching and Nailing Down an ePortfolio Site

Having spent some time perusing others' ePortfolios from the given links, there are some features that I really appreciate.  One being clear navigation; ease of navigation is key.  The sites that have a navigation bar make it easy to click and find specific pages, whether they be projects, a blog, training, etc.  I appreciate the logical and clear navigation that makes it easy to quickly move from one area to another.

Pages that have titles which correspond to courses or a focus area that hold within them projects, research, and related items makes sense to me.  In some instances, I do see a page titled, "Projects" or the like, but I personally like it when the associated work within a course, time period, or experience is posted or linked on the one page and all tied together.  I think that if later down the line in the DLL program, I need a "project" or "artifact" page, I'll post my items in two places: a project page and also embed or link on a page that is directly related to the item.

Blog posts seem to fall into two different setups.  In one instance, I can scroll through all of the blog posts.  There are titles, dates, and all of the actual posts that just keep going on and on and on.  In the other versions, the blog posts show as titles and links.  Sometimes there might be a picture and a few sentences.  I like this latter version the best; it's easy to scroll through the posts to see which ones will be of interest to me that I'd like to read.  In the other version with the continual text, it seems overwhelming to have to scroll through all that text to see what is actually there and sort through what I'd like to read.

I'm using WIX for my website and thought about using Wordpress.  I did create a site through Wordpress but have decided I like my WIX version better.  I was having some trouble with my blog on WIX for a few weeks.  I finally figured out that the reason I had overlapping pictures and titles was due to the fact that I had added double of everything.  Now that I've fixed it, I'm happy with it.  On Wordpress, I didn't like the way the pages were turning out.  I've used Weebly in the past for a "teacher's website" and it's fairly easy to use; however, I like WIX better, especially the blog.  The blog is such an important part of my ePortfolio that I want to make sure it has the features and looks the way I want it to.

At this point, I'm fairly confident WIX will work for my ePortfolio and allow me to showcase my learning to an authentic audience.
