It’s true that when we want to persuade people, the way to get them to listen to us is through the use of emotional appeals (pathos). By bringing targeted emotions to the surface, we can get our audience to connect with us on an emotional level as we also introduce logical appeals (logos). By reaching in and opening up one’s heart, we’re more able to open their minds. Because of this, I’ll be appealing to both my audience’s heart and mind. My audience already has all of the information that I could bring forth and remind him about. Arousing certain emotions and experiences from his past will help me to connect my audience before I start asking influential questions. Also, my disruptive innovation won’t take much work or cost a penny for my school. It makes sense to take a few small steps to open a big opportunity for our students. My audience will need to see how easy it can be to build upon the structures that are already in place to make my disruptive innovation plan come to fruition.
