On-Going Support

Just as our students need on-going support and coaching, so do our teachers who are in the process of growing their skills. As Bate’s points out, it’s not just technological skills that educators need help with; teachers need support pedagogically and understanding how their students learn best. I work at an independent study high school so much of what the author had to say about colleges and professors within this chapter isn’t applicable to my situation. That being said, the author’s points have made me consider again how important pedagogy is in terms of technological integration. We can’t address digital skills and integration without also addressing ones’ pedagogy.

When my colleagues use the LMS course I’ve created, I’ll offer on-going support through our instructional coach at our campus, myself, and other colleagues through collaboration. When creating this course I’ve also planned active learning experiences that are authentic to my learners. Support for the skills that are taught in my LMS course I’ve designed will continue to be supported throughout the year.
